Welcome
I established this website to accommodate many people who have asked for copies of my sermons over the last twenty years, at least. While serving as a rabbi in Los Angeles I frequently received requests for particular sermons from those who had heard them and wanted to review them or share them with a friend, or from those who heard of them and wanted a copy for themselves. Currently, as the rabbi of Sutton Place Synagogue in Manhattan, I continue to receive many such requests.
Because I believe a sermon is meant to be heard and not to be read (either by the preacher or the congregant), I refuse to give written transcripts. However, I provide audio tapes.
Now, seeking to reach a larger congregation, while accommodating those already interested, I present this website. These sermons are presented exactly as delivered to an actual congregation during a prayer service.
The topics fall into two broad categories: current social and political concerns, especially affecting us as Americans and as Jews; personal issues relating to religious, relationship, spiritual and psychological concerns. Enough said about the sermons. The best way to know them is not to hear about them, but to listen to them.
Enjoy…and be inspired. Please share your thoughts with me. Your approbation will surely encourage me and your considered criticism may enlighten me. I would love to know your thoughts on the presented material.
The web is a fantastic connective vehicle,. I am happy to establish this connection with you, even if only in cyberspace. But the virtual world pales next to the “real” world. So, when in New York, please come by to visit.
